CONCORD, N.C. (April 17, 2013) – West
coast Top Alcohol Dragster heavy hitter Chris Demke and the Maddern Racing team
are making the big trip east to compete at the Dollar General Four-Wide
Nationals this weekend. The team known for making quick runs and big
mile-per-hour numbers is eagerly awaiting their first attempt on the tight
racing surface at zMax Dragway.
“When we went to Gainesville for the
first time, the track had a reputation for being fast. Well Charlotte has that
same reputation, if not more so. Looking over the weather situation, it’s a low
altitude track. I’ve heard great things about the facility. I just can’t wait
to get there and start the car to make our first pass,” said Demke, driver of
one of the quickest blown cars in the world.
Some people might find a challenge in
racing at a track for the first time. Demke says he doesn’t feel that challenge
as a driver.
“I try not to let it affect me. I’ll
ride around on the scooter when I get there to check the place out. Tuner Adam
Rhoades has been there with other teams so he’s familiar with the track itself.
I won Gainesville my first time there, so I don’t let the unfamiliarity get to
me. I’m looking forward to it – I like going to new tracks.”
Along with racing at a new track comes a
fan base that Chris hasn’t had the opportunity to interact with. The
approachable fan favorite looks forward to meeting the hardcore fans and
gearheads that are drawn in by the four-wide spectacle at Charlotte.
“I love racing on the east coast,” Chris
said. “Racing seems more popular on the east coast than the west coast. The fan
base is stronger and there are so many fans with a strong passion for racing. I
love meeting the fans and hanging out with them. The southeastern United States
is huge to circle track racing, and that love of auto racing goes beyond NASCAR
to other forms of motorsports, like drag racing. It’s fun to go where people
want to see you race.”
