WOODBURN, Ore. (July 11, 2013) – Last year’s Woodburn
regional Top Alcohol Dragster runner-up Chris Demke returns to Woodburn
Dragstrip to make a run for the Les Schwab Tires Challenge NHRA regional event
title. Demke, who just won the Route 66 Nationals two weeks ago, is still
winless on the 2013 regional tour after debuting a new car at the beginning of
the season.
“Our team’s confidence is very high
after winning the Route 66 Nationals in Chicago. We proved that we can win with
the new car. I think we can go on a winning streak. While I got the
national event monkey off my back this year, now I need to get the regional
monkey off my back. We’ve got what it takes to do it,” said the excitable
California driver, who also reached the Jegs Allstars final at Chicago.
While primarily looking to add a
regional win to his points scorecard, Chris and his Peen Rite/Operational
Solutions team also want to make up for their loss in the finals at last year’s
Woodburn regional event.
“We should’ve won that race last year,”
Chris continued. “We had electrical problems that popped up, resulting in the
car shutting off. A combination of that and bad driving caused us to lose the
race. We know this track. It’s an awesome track – a very fast track. I think we
have the tune-up that is necessary to win this race. I’m very confident that we
can put together three rounds and bring home the win.”
Chris and the Maddern Racing team will
have plenty of support on hand to cheer him on, adding to the motivation to
grab their first regional win of the season.
“We’re really looking forward to this weekend.
The fans are awesome, they get a good turnout, and I’m excited to go shake
hands and put on a good show. We’re also happy to have my mom, Dixie Maddern,
back with us after recovering from an injury. She cooks for the team, so I’m
sure I’ll be well-fed this weekend.”
