SEATTLE, Wash. (August 14, 2013) –
Maddern Racing driver Chris Demke returns to Seattle’s Pacific Raceways this
weekend to improve on his second round exit at the Northwest Nationals held at
the picturesque race track just weeks ago. His Peen Rite/Operational
Solutions/Cleanboost Oil Top Alcohol Dragster team knows what went wrong, and
they’re ready to make things right at the NHRA LODRS regional event.
“Everything was going good. The car was
running great. We just missed the tune-up second round against (Shawn) Cowie.
We were too conservative and our time showed the results. No parts breakage.
What we tuned it to run was not what we needed to win the round,” Chris said.
He qualified third and took a decisive first round win over Jeff Ashwell before
falling to eventual race winner Shawn Cowie in a 5.29 to 5.37 match.
The second round pairing was the second
consecutive meeting of the two successful blown alcohol dragster drivers. Demke
hopes to meet up with Cowie again this weekend, seeking redemption.
“It’s not redemption until I win – or at
least get around Shawn Cowie. He seems to have our number right now. You can’t
get redemption if you’re not racing. I’m pretty sure he’s going to be at
Seattle so hopefully I’ll get paired up with him and get a chance to get him
back for the last two races.”
The fan-favorite California driver is
also seeking more valuable points at this weekend’s LODRS regional event. He’s
leading a tight points battle with rival Jim Whiteley. A win this weekend would
pad his lead and give the Jerry Maddern-owned team a burst of confidence
heading into the late summer stretch.
“I’m just eager to get back in the car
and make some more laps. We need to go some rounds. Points are starting to
matter. We need to stay on top of things. It hurt a lot to go out second round
at the Northwest Nationals – it was not what our team was expecting. We need to
get back on track,” Demke stated.
Chris Demke and the Peen
Rite/Operational Solutions/Cleanboost Oil Top Alcohol Dragster team will hit
the Pacific Raceways quarter-mile for qualifying on Friday, August 16th,
at 2, 5, and 8 PM PST. Eliminations take place on Saturday.
Maddern Racing, celebrating 20 years of
