Harrison TWP. MI. … Todd Robertson is no
stranger to running big races but, the U.S. Nationals is a whole lot bigger and
more prestigious than any race Robertson has ever competed in. The 58th running
of the MAC tools U.S. Nationals takes place August 29th thru September 3rd at
the storied Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana.
“I’ve raced at the track before, I’ve attended
the nationals before and I’ve helped out some friends who’ve run them before
but, this is different,” said Robertson.
“This is the race we all thought of when
Todd decided to switch from Outlaw Pro Mod to his Motor City Machine NHRA Alky
Funny Car It’s a drag racer thing it’s like Dyatona for the stock car guys but
more,” said Car Chief, Rocco Wilson.
“My first INDY experience was 1989. I was a
huge Pro Stock fan but you couldn’t help but get caught up in the Alky Floppers
then. Pat Austin was on a tear that year winning INDY and running his first
five second pass. I’ll never forget it. For me to think that I will be on the
line at the U.S. Nationals with a funny car is very surreal,” said Crew Chief,
Dennis Kolomyjec.
With INDY being the race that everyone wants
to compete at the event schedule is lengthened form a Friday, Saturday, Sunday
event to a Wednesday thru Monday event encapsulating the entire Labor Day
Weekend. Qualifying for the sportsman categories begins Wednesday at 8:30 AM.
